A book, with text by
Markos Kounalakis and photography by
Doug Menuez, "Defying Gravity" illustrates, in remarkable detail, the development of the
Apple Newton, the world's first
PDA.
With excellent graphic design, revealing photography, and honest text, the book conveys a sense of urgency, almost desperation, as the Newton is moved from minor research project to a product that Apple pretty much bet the farm on.
It's interesting to note that the book was written as the Newton was being developed, and came out shortly after its release, so it does not talk about the PDA being a dismal failure for Apple. An interesting perspective on an amazing product and story.
