A multicore cable is a cable with more than one core (duh!). Often used to refer to sound and lighting cables that can control or carry signals for, more than one source at once. For example, a 12-way sound multicore would be a single cable that could take 12 different audio signals (often 8 sends, and 4 returns, where sends would be used for microphones, and returns for speakers).

A common type of lighting multicore is socapex - this carries the equivalent of six 15A cables. Lectroflex is similar, but not as good quality - because, whereas socapex has a seperate ground for each channel, lectroflex has a common ground.
