A multicore
cable is a
cable with more than one
core (
duh!). Often used to refer to
sound and
lighting cables that can
control or
carry signals for, more than one
source at once. For example, a 12-way
sound multicore would be a single cable that could take 12 different
audio signals (often 8 sends, and 4 returns, where sends would be used for
microphones, and returns for
speakers).
A common type of
lighting multicore is
socapex - this carries the equivalent of six 15A cables.
Lectroflex is similar, but not as good quality - because, whereas
socapex has a seperate
ground for each
channel,
lectroflex has a
common ground.
