Surfer lingo for a specific type of surf boards. The Malibu type board is an american style board, 8'6" to 10'6" in lenght. This style originated in the fifties and quickly became the
de facto surf boards for american and australian riders. These are in production today, but the originag
balsa wood and
plywood have been replaced with
foam and
fibre glass.
Often the same as longboards, but sometimes, that term is used on the traditional boards of the Hawaiian culture, Malibu boards are always new-style.
