"Not
my will, but
thine, be done." -
Luke 22:42
This refers to "
Father", as stated earlier in that verse. However, before realizing
thy will is
His, I often thought that it could be
hers:
"Not my will, but thine, be done, dear," as he takes the trash out immediately, missing the last seconds of the big game.
Married or engaged couples often have one of them in a dominant role, and many quotes from the Bible, where a person speaks/prays to God or the Lord, could reflect the situations of couple life.
Disclaimer: I intend not to offend anyone by substituting a woman for God, but I am merely intent on poking fun at us whipped folk.
