Safflower oil is a lesser-known type of
cooking oil that is nevertheless readily available in
grocery stores. It is made by pressing the seeds of the
safflower plant until it is turned into oil, and it is then collected.
It can be used in any recipe where vegetable oil is called for, with the difference that safflower oil is high in Vitamin E, which is an antioxidant.
Safflower oil has approximately 120 calories for every tablespoon, and provides 14 grams of fat (a percentage of 21% of the daily allotment for daily value). It has approximate 1 gram of saturated fat, 11 grams of polyunsaturated fat, and 2 grams of monounsaturated fat. It has no cholesterol or sodium and has 30% of the daily nutrition requirement for Vitamin E.
