Argumentum ad Misericordiam (Latin)
Refers to a
fallacy of
logic in argument, specifically one of the
Fallacies of Relevance. The debater using ad misericordiam uses an appeal to
pity.
Example: "The poor homeless guy had such a hard life that he was forced to rob the store at
gunpoint!"
