For a time in the late
1980s and early
1990s, there was a phenomenon known in business-watching circles as "The Blade Runner Curse." It arose from the particular companies that had their
logos prominently displayed in the
Ridley Scott film
Blade Runner. Over time, many of these companies failed or sank into
obscurity, with a few notable exceptions. Here's a list of some of the companies to appear in the film:
The big victims of the curse were Atari and Pan Am; they had their logos most prominently/frequently visible in the film. Coke is obviously doing fine. TDK and Koss, while still around, don' t have nearly the presence (American market, at least) that they did when the film came out. I don't know if Jovan is still around (parfumier) but I haven't seen anything from 'em recently. There are others; these are just off the top of my head.
