German scientist, born 1928. Awarded the Nobel prize in physics 2000. He has been working with high-speed
opto-electronic devices and research since mid-70's. Together with
Zhores I Alferov he has developed fast
transisors and
laser diods that are used in
CD-players,
radio communications and more.
