Paul, Hermann and Jean Limburg.
Little is known about them: they were probably born in
Flanders around 1380 by artistic parents and, following their parents'
careers, soon got
apprenticeships in their uncle's studio.
In 1402 the brothers had entered into the service of
Jean of Berry. Records from the Duke's household mentions a great number of paintings, but only the
Très Belles Heures and
Très Riches Heures remain intact.
The three brothers all died at the same time, presumably in some
epidemic in February
1416.
