Password protection is a widely-used
computer security feature. It is generally used to allow certain individuals access to
information and/or
services that are not fit for the
public at large (e.g. - bank account statements,
databases, some web sites, some
operating systems, etc.).
Essentially, every user is issued either a password or a username/password set and this information must be entered into appropriate data entry fields before the user may access whatever it is they are accessing. Persons without a recognized username and/or password will not be allowed access.
