There is a particular species of bug -- likely an arachnid, but too small to view in any detail, only just large enough to see, and were it not bright red I might have never noticed it at all.

I encounter it now and then, mostly outdoors -- it must be something I pick up from walking on grass, but I can't be certain. All I know is that if I find it making its way across my skin, no amount of blowing will actually carry the little thing off. It holds its ground against the wind so well.

And then I forget what always happens when I attempt to brush it off -- and all of a sudden the tiny red bug is a tiny red streak, and I am terribly embarrassed.

I wish I could apologize to the rest of them.
