Guncrafter Industries created this new
cartridge for use with their new .50
1911 style
Model No. 1 pistol. It is a
fifty caliber pistol round that has an over all length that is close to the
.45 ACP.
Typical loads fire a 300 gr bullet at about 725 feet per second out of a five inch barrel. It is a low pressure round but there is a higher pressure load that gives an extra 100 feet per second of muzzle velocity.
Unlike the .40 S&W, this cartridge would probably have low acceptance as it is another solution looking for a problem. Not to mention too expensive.
