Frankie had an impressive career that spanned most of his 81 years. He is usually associated with "Up Pompeii!", but his life in
showbiz extended much further than the long running series. He was a
household name in
Britain, and provided comedic value to the everyday lives of his thousands of adoring fans. He also made several appearances in the
Carry on movies, which further cemented his place in the
British comedy scene. Furthermore to a successful career, Frankie came back in 1991 (and was also active in bookwriting throughout the 80's) to further the "Up Pompeii!" series
