Fred Wesley is a trombonist and keyboard player. He made his fame and fortune as a writer and member of James Brown's horn section in many bands; Fred Wesley and the JBs, Maceo and the Macks, The JB's, Fred and the New JBs, etc from 1968.
He was also a member of George Clinton's bands; Parliament, P-Funk, Funkedelic, Parlifunkadelic, etc from 1975.
But it doesn't stop there. He also played jazz in The Count Basie Orchestra from 1978, and with other various artists including Ray Charles, Randy Crawford, Maceo Parker, Pee Wee Ellis, De La Soul and many more.

He is an excellent soloist, with a recognisable feel of his own. He is currently performing with his own group, The Fred Wesley Quartet.

And remember. Fred is dead.
