Born in
Cambridge, Massachusettes on the 2nd of June, 1923.
Served in the
U.S. Army during
World War 2, where in 1944, was awarded the
Bronze Star.
Obtained A.B. at
Harvard in 1948, and a
Ph.D. in Math at
Princeton in 1953. Later awarded an honourary Ph.D. from the
Hebrew University of Jerusalem in
1986.
Married
Marian Ludolph in 1955, and parented 2 sons,
Peter and
Christopher.
Currently a professor at
UCLA's department of
economics.
Along with
Martin Shubik, invented the
Shapley-Shubik Power Index.
