A
town (or is it a true
suburb?) tucked away between
West Bromwich,
Smethwick and
Blackheath in the
West Midlands county. A
canal runs through it. A
motorway runs through it. It has a
hypermarket and fast bus connections to
Birmingham. It's on the road to
Wolverhampton... In other words, like many suburbs, it's
defined by where it isn't. But the vistas off its Rowley hillsides are sublime (looking off at all those elsewheres).
It's full of that which springs up in the place of yesterday's dead industries, so maybe it's defined also by when it isn't.
