The three characteristics of existence (ti-lakkhana)
1. All formations are
transient
2. All formations are
subject to
suffering
3. All things are without self
Note: "all formations" refers to all composite things, formed of parts. "all things" refers to all composite things plus Nibbana, which is
non-composite, not transient and not subject to suffering. Nibbana is, however, without self.
