Into starlight night I run
across the hills,
solitary- no one
through the trees, across the streams
Toward the hilltop,
a castle of my
dreams
Onward up the winding stair
a room of mirrors,
you shadowed there
What are you saying? What is the measure?
No reply, no words, no subtle gesture
I awake, no scratch, no wound
no harm
safe in bed I pull upright,
the room is still, save my
alarm
Now in daylight, yellowed pages turn
whither these dreams of
discontent-
with dark forgetting of my care return?
