A lesser scoring goal in
Winchester College football. A behind only scores one point as apposed to three for a
goal. When a behind is
scored the scorer's name is not recorded, as it is not judged to be his alone. Behinds usually result from sloppy, slow play where there is a struggle near the line.
A behind is scored if:
- The ball goes over worms whilst in ropes
- The ball goes off an opposing player before crossing the line.
- The ball is driven over worms in the hot.
Incidentally, or perhaps not there is also a behind in
Australian Rules football, which scores one point to a goal's six. This is scored by getting the ball in between two posts that are further out from the main goalposts.
