Breakfast cereal consisting of lightly sugared flakes of corn, similar to (but less sweet than) Frosted Flakes. Marketed in Western New York and sold in Wegmans supermarkets, proceeds from sales of the cereal go to the Doug Flutie, Jr. Foundation for Autism. As you may surmise, Buffalo Bills quarterback Doug Flutie has a son, Doug Flutie, Jr., with Autism.
Update (7/18/01): Since Flutie was released for
salary cap reasons, Flutie Flakes are no longer being sold in Western New York. Reportedly, however, they can now be found in Southern
California, where Flutie will be the starting
quarterback for the
San Diego Chargers this fall.
