Orthrus was a two headed
hound, the
monstrous son of
Typhon and
Echidnae. He served as a
watchdog over the
cattle herds of
Geryon, a his three headed and three bodied
uncle. As part of his
twelve labours Herakles was forced to
kill Orthrus in order to
steal the cattle.
