scoutmaster (both with
cubs and
boy scouts) we had one standard way of dealing with overly active, bothersome kids: load them with responsibilities. Make them patrol cook, or chief, or pathfinder ...
The subtext was "Now you are on the other side of the authority chasm, and get a chance to see why occasionally obedience is good".
It usually did them a world of good - not a magic bullet though.
