Quite possibly the best
filibuster of all time is that of
Andy Kaufmann who once read all of
The Great Gatsby from cover to cover to an audience that had
pissed him off.
It could be argued that this was not TECHNICALLY a filibuster (as it did not delay a legislation). However, it was intended to delay a comedic performance and in this goal was much more successful than Senator Thurmond's filibuster.
