I feel happy tonight. Excited, hopeful.

Latin is going better than I anticipated. Today we were assigned sentences to parse on the whiteboard. Identify the passive verbs, the nominatives, and the ablatives, translate the whole sentence. I was in a group of three, but I understood everything. For the first time, it all made sense. I was able to identify a noun (I think it was "morte" but I can't remember) as third declension ablative. I saw all the passive verbs immediately. It was perfect. I left class with a spring in my step. I think I'll have the passive verb conjugation memorized by the next quiz. I feel like there is hope for me to pass this class. I felt very hopeless for a while, but I think there is hope. I won't know until I get my grade on the first test though, which is next Wednesday.

There is another exciting thing in my life, though. I have broken ground on a writing project, a high fantasy story. The premise is that there is a group of fantasy monsters who are in search of "The Catalyst", a magic drink that causes them to transform into a seemingly random other monster. They travel from world to world, seeking the catalyst, hoping that eventually they will transform into something "good" (angel, fairy, nymph) and not "evil" (wraith, imp, gorgon.) I've been doing a lot of work writing out the histories of the various nations for one of the worlds. Once I'm finished I'll do it for another world, and then another, as well as write up religions. It's a lot of work, but it's a lot of fun. I look forward to writing it. I'm considering paying a linguist big money to develop a few conlangs for me, I exchanged messages with a guy and got a quote. $160 is how much a conlang costs.

In other news, I started reading a fantasy book that a lot of people are very enthused by and... I am very disappointed. It's "A Court of Thorns and Roses", and I was hoping for a high fantasy epic, but instead it's just a female fantasy romance novel. "Romantasy", someone told me. Maybe I'm just naturally inclined to find romance revolting, but it just drags on and on and on and the romance is so... much, it's nauseating. I'm like 60% of the way through, though, so I think it has ample time to turn around. I read a goodreads review though that says there's outright rape, which I am NOT looking forward to reading. But I got through the GoT books and I liked them, so I guess I can get through this.

It's funny, I keep buying books so much faster than I read them. Just did some number-crunching. At the rate I am reading my books, it will take me over 20 years to read through all my books (I own 182 books). But I keep buying more and more and more and more because I see a book and it's like "oh this looks INTERESTING!! I am going to buy this because I want to read this interesting thing!" Most all of these books are history. Meanwhile I'm spending my time reading trashy romantasy. It's a little absurd and a little funny. I'm really itching to buy some books though. I have $50 in my bank account because I just spent $1500 on tuition, which is just enough money for a few books. Heh.

I wish I could change my e2 username.

I want to write more but I'm hungry and there's not much to say anyway, so I will leave this for now.

edit: reupload because I initially posted this with the wrong year.
