A 70s NYC "punk" band - they were all called that; The Mumps were just a quirky power pop band, IIRC. Not especially memorable (the intro and melody of "Crocodile Tears" danced on the lids of my mind's eye for 12 hours before I could remember the title), except for its singer, Lance Loud, who outed himself - as did bandmate Kristian Hoffman - on An American Family. It was only PBS, so nobody was watching. Not! Hoffman later worked with Lydia Lunch and Klaus Nomi, et al.
